The Practical Prancing Horse
The 1968 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 showed that Ferrari was capable of making a high-performance luxury car. The car was designed and constructed by Pininfarina, one of history’s greatest car designer works. After construction, the cars were shipped to Ferrari to have all of the mechanical components installed. The sleek vehicle was capable of carrying 4 people and their luggage in high style with a leather interior and wood appointments. It also featured a stereo and power windows. A few were even equipped with air conditioning for the American market. The 365 was the first Ferrari equipped with standard power steering and power brakes at the 1967 model’s launch. The car also featured an innovative hydropneumatic self-leveling rear suspension which kept the car level no matter how much the car was pushed. About 800 cars were produced from 1967 to 1971, making it the company’s best-selling vehicle to that date. The vehicle was also equipped with a mighty 4.4 liter V12 engine producing 320 horsepower, meaning that high performance and comfort could be wrapped up in a single package.
